Roy Lavern Fields, Sr.

Roy L. Fields, Sr., 24, of Route 3, Box 262-F, Orangeburg, died Wednesday at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital.  Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at the Sunny Vista Church of God near North with Rev. Thomas H. Brown and the Rev. Robert Lily officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.  Active pallbearers will be Vincent Fields, Arlen FIelds, Mervin Fields, Joe Nettles, Donnie Mills and Rusty Garrick.  Mr. Fields was born February 1, 1953 in Orangeburg Cuonty, a son of Mrs. Ellen Chavis Fields and  the late Rev. Warren J. Fields, Sr.  He was a member of the Cannon Bridge Road Church of God and was employed with Volkswagen Company in Columbia. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Dianne DeHay Fields of Orangeburg; one son, Roy L. Fields, Jr. of Orangeburg; mother, Ellen Chavis Fields of Orangeburg; three sisters, Mildred Spires, Mrs. Arnold (Carolyn) Lowery, both of Orangeburg, and Mrs. Gordon (Martha) Coker of Columbia; three brothers, Warren J. Fields, Jr. of Monks Corner, S. Sgt. Arthur C. Fields of Ft. Lee, Va., and Sgt. Harvey E. Fields of Charleston Air Force Base.  Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. & Mrs. Arnold Lowery, Rt. 3, Neeses Rd., and Thompson Funeral Home.
